 San Francisco Bay Ferry is a regional public transit agency carrying over three million passengers a year on a fleet of 19 high-speed vessels, proudly serving Richmond, San Francisco, Oakland, Alameda, South San Francisco, and Vallejo. As a proud member of the Richmond Chamber of Commerce, we connect Richmond commuters and visitors to San Francisco and the greater Bay Area. 

San Francisco Bay Ferry, operated by the Water Emergency Transportation Authority (WETA), is the Bay Area’s public ferry transit system, providing safe, reliable, and sustainable water transportation across San Francisco Bay. Our fleet of 19 high-speed, passenger-only ferries — each accommodating 225 to 445 passengers, with bathrooms and wheelchair-accessible cabins on board — carries roughly 200,000 riders every month between Oakland, Alameda, Harbor Bay, Vallejo, Richmond, San Francisco, and South San Francisco, with additional seasonal service to Oracle Park, Chase Center, and the Alameda Seaplane Lagoon. Beyond daily commuter and visitor service, WETA coordinates the region’s water transit response during emergencies, giving the Bay Area a resilient way to move people and first responders when it matters most. Guided by a Board of Directors and a mission built on sustainability, safety, and customer satisfaction, we’re currently expanding access to underserved communities through active initiatives including the Berkeley Pier-Ferry study, a new Mission Bay ferry landing, and the Vallejo terminal reconfiguration — connecting Bay Area residents and visitors to work, home, and everything in between.
