The Richmond Chamber of Commerce recently met with the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce to establish a strategic working relationship focused on economic development, tourism, downtown revitalization, and regional business partnerships. Representing Richmond were Board Chair Richard Doellstedt, Board Member Rob Lightner, Sponsorship and Events Coordinator Beatriz Dominguez, and Chamber leadership. The delegation met with San Francisco Chamber President & CEO Rodney Fong and Manager of Events and Programs Priscilla Young.
Discussions covered a broad range of shared priorities — from business attraction and retention to downtown revitalization strategies, workforce development, waterfront development, and the development of a Visit Richmond tourism initiative. President Fong shared insights into the San Francisco Chamber’s collaboration with Mayor Daniel Lurie on downtown revitalization, and several of the strategies they have implemented closely mirror initiatives already being explored by Richmond’s Downtown Taskforce. Both chambers found significant alignment in their respective directions — a promising foundation for an ongoing relationship.
As a result of the meeting, the Richmond and San Francisco Chambers agreed to begin working together on future initiatives, including exploring what President Fong described as a Bay Area “Sister City” concept — a regional economic partnership between the two business communities. A joint Chamber networking mixer in Richmond is already in the planning stages for later this year. Richmond’s regional presence continues to grow — and this partnership brings new opportunities for economic development, tourism, and business growth.
