Chevron submits 30-Day Report to Contra Costa Health Services

chevron-richmond-logoAn update from Chevron Richmond sent on January 28, 2013. See the official update here.

The investigation into the August 6th incident remains ongoing, but the refinery has begun to develop and implement corrective actions based on what we have learned to date from our investigation.

We have met with government agencies, including the Chemical Safety Board, California Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Contra Costa Health Services, to discuss the changes we are taking in response to the incident. Additional actions may be identified upon completion of the investigation, which we will release prior to the restart of the No. 4 Crude Unit.

We have submitted an update to our 30-Day Report to Contra Costa Health Services. The Report provides an update on the status of our ongoing internal investigation and an overview of the corrective actions we are taking at the refinery in response to the incident.

These comprehensive actions will strengthen process safety, mechanical integrity, and management oversight. A copy of the Report is available here.

Safety is a core value at Chevron, and this incident does not reflect our general practice or our aspirations regarding safety. We have learned from it and are making the right changes.
