What is the Chamber?


We at the Chamber get a lot of telephone calls from a lot of people on an amazing array of subjects. But that's another story. This story is about what many people think a Chamber is versus what it really is and why. Although we can't be all things to all people, we might be just what you and your business needs.

A Chamber of Commerce is a business organization. Our Mission Statement reads:
"We, the Richmond Chamber of Commerce, exist to provide services, resources and advocacy to foster growth in the business community and benefit West Contra Costa County."

We believe a healthy community can only be maintained by a strong local economy. We carry out our mission with a four-prong approach:

The Richmond Chamber represents and works for our members, which include businesses and organizations not only located in Richmond but those located elsewhere and doing business in Richmond.

As you explore our website, you will find information on active Chamber committees such as Government Relations, Education and Ambassadors. You will see that the Chamber "family" includes the Business and Education United Foundation, Leadership Richmond, the Richmond Convention and Visitors Bureau and RichPAC, our Political Action Committee.

You will find we host regular and special events offering networking opportunities, introductions to elected and City officials and information to our members.
