Thanks to everyone who joined in Chevron Richmond’s first-ever telephone town hall last week. Your engagement made the event a huge success.

Nearly 3,800 people joined the call to learn more about the Richmond Community Air Monitoring Program.  The program utilizes three air monitoring sites along the refinery’s fence line and three in the community in Point Richmond, North Richmond and Atchison Village to provide real time reporting of what’s in our air.

Those who joined the call heard from Chevron Richmond and Argos Scientific, the independent, environmental-service company that maintains the monitoring stations.  Participants had an opportunity to ask questions and provide input on a number of issues related to the program and air quality in general.

Overall, participants are very supportive of the program, with 91% saying they thought it was important to know what is in the air and 76% saying they think the air monitoring stations are a good idea.  And, approximately 74% of participants said they support Chevron Richmond’s efforts to modernize the refinery to make it newer, safer, cleaner and better for this community.

Thanks again to all of you who participated.  We look forward to using more telephone town hall events to connect directly with local residents in the future.
