Established in 1995 by Bob and Shannon Alten, Alten Construction, Inc. has grown from a small public works company to an employee base of more than 70 people and annual revenues of over $75 million. We began by performing ADA retrofits and seismic upgrades and advanced to building entire school campuses from the ground up. Our experience is extensive. From tenant improvements to historic buildings to fire stations and schools, we have executed a number of different types of construction all throughout the San Francisco Bay area in Napa, Sonoma, Solano, Marin, Contra Costa, Alameda and San Francisco counties.

We specialize in working as a team with the owner to overcome constructability and scheduling difficulties. We work with integrity and take pride in our work, in being part of the solution to resolve obstacles and in meeting the owner’s scheduling and budgeting needs. Our customers agree.
Alten Construction also takes pride in promoting the growth of both individuals and small, local businesses. Community involvement is good for everyone and puts tax dollars into the hands of the local labor force. We have effective procedures in place for successfully meeting or exceeding local hire requirements, and we have worked with Richmond Build and Rebuilding Together Oakland. We have also provided internships for students from nearby colleges such as California State University, Chico, and California Polytechnic State University.
