The City of Richmond is located 16 miles northeast of San Francisco, on a peninsula separating San Francisco Bay and San Pablo Bay. It encompasses 32 miles of shoreline and four islands. The area defined by city limits covers a total of 56.1 square miles, of which 33.8 is land and 22.3 is water.
