Kicking Off the Modernization Conversation

Published by Chevron Richmond, March 20, 2014.

On Tuesday, approximately 300 Richmond residents, refinery employees and labor union members mobilized at the Richmond City Council to show their support for a newer, safer, cleaner refinery. This follows the release of the City of Richmond’s draft environmental impact report, which describes how the Refinery Modernization Project will benefit the community.

Over the next few months you’re going to hear a lot about refinery modernization and what it means for you and everyone else in the community. That’s why we wanted to make sure you’re among the first to see our new television commercial.

As you’ll see, the messages feature people who are making a difference in Richmond — and all of them volunteered to be in the commercial.  Ron Holthuysen and his Scientific Art Studio located in Richmond’s Iron Triangle (Ron is also the Secretary-Treasurer of the Iron Triangle Neighborhood Association); Luciano Del Rio, Richmond High’s robotics program coordinator; Menbere Aklilu, owner of Salute e Vita restaurant in Marina Bay; Butter Simms, a celebrated local job trainer; and Richmond Refinery engineer Patricia Roberts, who’s playing a key role on the modernization design team.

Here’s our request. First, take a look at our commercial and let us know what you think on our website RichmondProud.  Then, help us spread the word by forwarding this email to friends, family and contacts throughout Richmond. Please ask them to fill out the information form so we can keep them up to date on developments as they occur.
