Since 1924, the Richmond Chamber of Commerce has represented the dynamic range of our city’s business community, from sole proprietors to major corporations.

In
1992 Judith
Morgan was the first woman
Chair of the Richmond Chamber of Commerce.
She joined the Chamber Board in 1986 representing
Richmond Travel Bureau and has been President
and CEO of the Chamber since 1993. She
graduated from the Institute of Organization
Management in 1999. Judy has been a
resident of Richmond most of her life and
has served as Chair of the Economic Development
Commission and on the Boards of the YMCA,
Early Childhood Mental Health, Richmond Art
Center and the Contra Costa College Foundation. She
likes to travel and her favorite places (besides
Richmond) are Bora Bora and London.
Barbara
Obele is the General Manager
and has been with the Chamber since
1982. Barbara completed Institute
for Organization Management in 1999.
She grew up in Richmond and attended
local schools. She was San Pablo
Grammar School Girls Yo-Yo Champion
when she attended Riverside Elementary
School.
Ferdinand
Bueno, Director of Finance, joined
the Chamber in February 2002. He
has lived in Richmond since 1999.
He previously participated in VITA,
the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance
organized by the City of Richmond
to offer free tax preparation to
low income taxpayers. Ferdinand is
also the main contact for the Enterprise
Zone Hiring Tax credit which the
Chamber hopes all qualified businesses
will take advantage of. Alumni of
SF State University, class of 95.
Christina
Phipps, Director of Membership,
joined the Chamber staff January 3,
2005 after working in Richmond at the
Bay Area Rescue Mission for over ten
years. During
that time, she volunteered as a Chamber
Ambassador for six years and got to
know many of the wonderful business
people in the Richmond area, making
for an easy transition when she joined
the staff at the Chamber. She works
with our enthusiastic team of Ambassadors
as well as the Chamber Education Committee
and the Business and Education United
Foundation (BE United). Chris has three
granddaughters and
a grandson.
Michelle
Itagaki is currently the Executive
Director of the Richmond Convention
and Visitors Bureau. Previously, she
was on the Richmond Chamber team from
1997-2001 as the Business Education
Liaison, and was delighted to come
back to Richmond in 2005. Between
these jobs she was the District Director,
West County/Marin County for Junior
Achievement of the Bay Area, then the
Business Manager for the Novato Chamber
of Commerce and Visitors Center. Michelle
graduated from the Institute for Organization
Management in 1999. After hours, Michelle
can be found reading a book, usually
science fiction, or discovering new
back roads to ride on her VTX 1300.
Sadia Altaf
is the Administrative Assistant and
has been with the Chamber since July,
2004. She is a part timer at the Chamber
and a full time college student, currently
working towards her B.S. in Biochemistry.
She is going to be an Optometrist.
For the past two years, Sadia and her
father have been producing a community
radio program for the Pakistani community.
